Dubrovnik

...the pearl of the Adriatic

Dubrovnik...

is a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site,

 in southern Croatia, that basks in the beautiful Mediterranean sunshine

 for much of the year.

We'll start by walking along the

stone bridge, which used to be

a drawbridge, to the entrance

of Old Town Dubrovnik 

at Pile Gate built way

back in 1537!

Taking in the sights of this spectacular

old town, will be like stepping back

in time as we walk along  its towering,

iconic wall that rises above a 

13th century main street

 with our local guide!  

St Saviors 

is a Franciscan and Dominican Church which was 

 was built right after a  earthquake  1520, to thank God  for sparing the city from any damages 

Church of St Blaise

is a baroque church built in 1715. and St Blaise is the patron saint of Dubrovnik

 

 Dubrovnik is right out of a fairytale!..

a fortress of beautiful Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance churches,

aristocratic palaces, red roofed townhouses, magnificent monasteries

and fascinating history!  The origins of the Croatian language

and its classic literature can be traced back here..

well fine then just ignore me!   lol!

Sponza Palace

 also called Divona is a 16th-century palace in  Its name is derived the spot where

rainwater was collected.

The rectangular building with an inner courtyard was built in a mixed Gothic and Renaissance style between 1516 and 1522. 

Dubrovnik's cathedral

was originally built in the 6th or 7th century in the Byzantine style, then rebuilt as a Romanesque church between the 12th and 14th centuries.

Rectors Palace

is a Gothic-Renaissance Palace, built in the late 15th century for the elected rector who governed Dubrovnik.

 Today the palace has been turned into the Cultural History Museum

Then afterwards we'll have some free time so everyone

can wander around town, visiting the bustling boutiques

or markets, etc and find a cafe for lunch!

You could also take the 2-3 minute cable car up to the top of

Mt Srd with spectacular views!...

and enjoy lunch at Panorama Restaurant up there!

Are you a game of thrones fan?

You can walk over to the castle where they film

- right here in Dubrovnik!!...the entrance fee is included in the price to enter the medieval wall!
