Around Medjugorje...

Places some of you may want to visit during your free time...

Mother's Village

taken from their website...

Mothers Village Orphanage, was set up by Fr Slavko for

the children from the Bosnian war.

It cares for abandoned and neglected children

and has existed since 1993. It offers children and youth a planned, organized education, as well as care, so that they can develop physically, intellectually, morally,

spiritually and culturally.

The care of the children is entrusted to the Franciscan School Sisters from Herzegovina, and to lay staff members.

There is a gift shop that has many crafts that

the children have made.

The Garden of “St. Francis”

Taken from their website...

The Garden is a place of recreation, where visitors, especially children,

can see the animals, encounter nature, follow the little footpaths

and enjoy the children’s playground.

In the spirit of St. Francis, the garden seeks to become

a place for pilgrims where, through contact

with nature everybody can find moments

of peace and tranquillity...

CENACOLO COMMUNITY

Cenacolo, the drug rehabilitation center, is not open to the public.
But many people come to  visit this center to see "the huge statue of Christ pulling out
Adam and Eve from the graves, just as He will pull out drug addicts

from the hell of their drugs".

You can also visit the amphitheater where the inmates have

their counselling sessions, and the gift shop. Proceeds from this gift shop

are used for the maintenance of the rehabilitation center.

The Medjugorje Cenacolo Community was established by an

Italian nun named Sister Elvira who is often referred to as Mother Elvira.

Her message to all those who enter the residential community is,

"True liberty is living the faith, it's letting the Holy Spirit,

which lives within us, act; it's letting it free us from the slavery of sin,

from the prison, and from the chains that come from our mind

that suffocate our conscience.  Let God enter and live within you,

because what you are seeking is Him."
